Matthew Newman, Principal, Chief Executive Officer
Matthew is originally from Trumbull, Connecticut, and attended Boston University. As a senior in college, he began a publishing company that produced magazines focused on real estate, apartment rentals, and roommates. These opportunities introduced him to hundreds of contacts in the real estate community as well as ancillary fields such as banking, inspections, and real estate law. In the mid-1990s, Matthew started a real estate company that evolved into three Unlimited Sotheby’s International Realty offices in Brookline, Jamaica Plain, and Newton Center. He was a silent partner but participated in corporate development and consultation.
Matthew began buying, managing, and developing real estate in the early to mid-1990s. Initially, he bought single units, three-family houses, and small projects. Now, over 38 years later, he owns over 500 residential units, commercial properties and development, has completed dozens of condominium conversions, acquisition-conversion-management situations, and renovated and sold numerous assets and properties. He has developed dozens of projects and bought/sold over 180 million dollars' worth of property in the area. Recently closed on a 50-unit building in Montreal, and finished 4-5 local projects in Brookline, South Boston, and East Boston. He is currently working on a three unit renovation in East Boston, converting a closed assisted living facility into 26 brand new gut-renovated apartments in Harwich, bringing all residential property management back in house, selling properties in Eastie, Brighton, Brookline and Mission Hill, renovation projects of various units throughout the portfolio, and continuing with acquisitions including 2-3 large commercial NNN retail properties.
Sara Sicilian, Chief Operating Officer
Sara Sicilian serves as Chief Operating Officer at Newman Properties, bringing over 12 years of dedicated experience to the company. She came on board in 2014, and oversees all operations, both in management and development. Sara is responsible for administering insurance across all business operations and property management. Before entering the world of real estate, she worked in healthcare. She hails from Western NY and attended Ithaca College before moving to Boston to attend Northeastern University. In addition to her role at Newman Properties, she is a Board Member at the South Boston Community Health Center and a Massachusetts Notary Public. She recently moved to the South Shore of Massachusetts, where she lives with her husband and two children. In her spare time, Sara likes to cross-stitch and bake.
Karen Anderson, Chief Financial Officer
Karen is the Chief Financial Officer of Newman Properties, bringing over 20 years of financial management and business leadership experience. She joined the company in 2018 as a consultant and became a full-time team member in 2019. As CFO, Karen oversees financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable management, mortgage management, and serves as liaison for tax matters. Her career has spanned multiple industries, giving her a broad perspective and proven expertise in driving financial efficiency and growth. Outside of work, Karen enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her three children.
Andy Heley, Acquisitions & Portfolio Manager
Andy has been working in the Boston area real estate market since 2005, after spending a few years at a public accounting firm. He started as a real estate agent focusing primarily on rentals and quickly moved into sales and property management. Andy ran a successful real estate office in Allston for several years before leaving to focus more on the property management and investing side of the business.
He joined the team at Newman Properties in 2013 as a property manager for our South Shore and Cape Cod buildings. He quickly expanded his role to include assisting with the sourcing and closing of new acquisitions, and is a partner on most of the South Shore and Salem portfolio. Today, Andy is overseeing the management and operations for all of our South Shore and Cape Cod properties, working to identify and execute on new projects and properties for acquisition.
Mariana Salerno, Senior Property Manager
Mariana has been a dedicated member of the team since 2011. With over a decade of experience, she brings extensive knowledge in property management and a commitment to providing excellent service to residents. She oversees all properties in East Boston & Winthrop, and also manages renovation projects. Fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, she can connect with a diverse community. In addition to her role, Mariana is a Massachusetts Notary Public. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, exploring new cultures and cuisines, and spending quality time with her family.
Alex Bardin, Acquisitions & Development, Partner
Alex joined the team in 2018 and brought his 20-plus years of commercial real estate experience to the team. Alex leads the Retail & Commercial Division of Newman Properties and oversees all acquisitions, dispositions, and financing for the company. Alex and his wife, Abby, live in Natick with their 2 children and dog. In his spare time, Alex volunteers for many local youth sports leagues and enjoys coaching youth basketball.
Amanda Allison, Senior Administrator, Leasing Coordinator
Amanda joined Newman Properties in 2019 as an Office Administrator & Property Management Assistant, steadily advancing to her current role as Senior Administrator company-wide, and Leasing Coordinator for the South Shore and Cape Cod properties. In this role, she oversees a wide range of operational and leasing functions, including office management, application approvals, lease renewals, and proper handling of security deposits. Amanda is also a commissioned Massachusetts Notary Public. Outside the office, Amanda enjoys traveling, camping, and spending quality time with her son.
Bill Cordts, Property Management Coordinator, Tenant Relations
Bill has been a real estate agent in Greater Boston since 2009, with a special focus on residential leasing and property management. In 2021, he joined Newman Properties as Management and Leasing Coordinator, assisting with a wide variety of company operations and working with staff to optimize organizational performance. Bill's roles include the leasing and marketing of our Boston area and Salem properties, rent collections, accounting, and tenant relations. Apart from his position at Newman Properties, Bill is also a Realtor at a local agency. He lives in Waltham with his wife and two sons.
Jerry McDermott, Property Manager
Joining the Newman Properties team in 2025 was like coming back to his roots. Jerry started in real estate in the competitive Allston/Brighton market in 1994. He met Matthew Newman, who was selling advertisements in a publication he owned called Just Rentals. Matthew Newman would be one of the first people to buy a property from Jerry. His company, McDermott Realty, would later go on to manage many of Newman's properties in the early stages of their careers. Jerry’s two passions: real estate and politics blended throughout his career - and over the years he served on the 13-member Boston City Council, as Executive Director of South Shore Habitat for Humanity, State Director for US Senator Scott Brown, Norfolk County Sheriff, as well as owner of McDermott Realty.
Jerry is a hands-on property manager who takes pride in keeping everything running smoothly. Known for being approachable, organized, and quick to respond, he makes sure tenants feel supported and properties are well cared for. Jerry’s two daughters and their success are his most important passions in life. His favorite board game is still Monopoly, and his daughters recently bought him the Cape Cod version of the classic board game!
Kaitlin Silva, Property Manager
Kaitlin joined the team in 2025, coming equipped with a background in property management since 2017. Kaitlin brings years of hands-on experience, a passion for organization, and a strong commitment to client care. In her role, she oversees daily operations at our South Shore properties, including leasing, resident relations, maintenance coordination, and vendor management. She ensures properties run smoothly and residents feel at home in their communities. When she’s not managing properties, you can find her hiking or kayaking with her husband and their pup, Luna. She loves to travel, explore new places, and try new things – always bringing that same curiosity and energy into her work!
Kevin Leech, Marketing Coordinator
Kevin obtained his FAA Part 107 unmanned aircraft license in 2021 and quickly launched his own media company, capturing photos and videos with drones. Following that, Kevin joined the Newman Properties team in 2022 as our Marketing Coordinator. Since then, he has been behind all of the marketing materials across our many social media accounts, websites, digital campaigns, etc. In addition to his marketing role, Kevin has transitioned into showing and leasing apartments throughout the South Shore and Cape Cod. Outside of work, you’ll find him on the soccer field, exploring new breweries and restaurants with his wife, or tossing a frisbee with his dog, Oatmeal.
Amy Rivard, Assistant Property Manager, Accounts Payable
Amy rejoined Newman Properties in 2017 and brings extensive experience and dedication to her role. Amy is responsible for assisting in the management of the South Shore portfolio which includes overseeing accounting, rent collection, maintenance coordination, and ensuring the efficient operation of our properties. Known for her professionalism and tireless work ethic, Amy is committed to delivering outstanding service to our staff and residents. With over 15 years of entrepreneurial success as a business owner, she has developed exceptional customer service skills and a strong commitment to client satisfaction. She also served as a national educator for a Fortune 500 company and, alongside her husband, has built and managed a real estate investment business for more than 12 years.
Alexandra Daly, Administrative & Management Assistant
Alexandra joined the company in January 2020, originally serving as the Leasing Coordinator, where she played a key role in supporting day-to-day leasing operations and client communication. She has since transitioned into a part-time Administrative role, where she supports the property management, accounting, and leasing teams with efficiency and reliability. In addition to her role within the company, Alexandra also works in interior design and residential renovations, combining her eye for detail with a passion for creating beautiful, functional spaces. Outside of work, Alexandra enjoys life with her husband and their three children.
Andrew Diamond, Acquisitions Consultant
Andrew is a graduate of Columbia University’s Master's of Real Estate Development program and is a co-founder of Columbia’s Real Estate Entrepreneurship Club. Before coming on board in 2024, Andrew consulted with Hudson Group, developer of Radian Boston, building financial models for their acquisitions. Additionally, he assisted WinnCompanies, the largest affordable housing manager in the United States, with the development of large projects utilizing Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. Andrew lives in Newton with his fiancé and Ody, his dog. When not walking Ody, his hobbies include playing pickleball, bike riding, and reading the Wall Street Journal.
Aiden Newman, Rental & Administrative Assistant
Before joining the Newman Properties team in 2025, Aiden was a student at the University of California, Santa Barbara. After graduating in 2024, he moved back to his hometown of Boston to pursue real estate. The son of Principal and CEO Matthew Newman, Aiden grew up learning about the real estate landscape in the Boston Area. In the role of Rental & Administrative Assistant, Aiden brings fresh ideas and insights to the team while working with tenants and administration to bring about efficient operations. In addition to this, Aiden has gotten into commercial investing and is assisting on deals as well as investing in them. In his free time, he likes to travel, see new places, support Boston sports, and spend time with friends.
Cesar Salinas, On-site Manager
Cesar joined Newman Properties in 2015 and has been an outstanding addition to the team ever since. With a reputation for quick response times and reliable service, Cesar keeps our properties looking great. His attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship ensure every repair is done right the first time. Whether it’s routine maintenance or an urgent request, residents can count on his professionalism and efficiency. In his free time, Cesar enjoys spending time with his family and beloved daughters.
Zachary Newman, Marketing Assistant & Commercial Investments
Zachary, the oldest son of the Principal and CEO Matthew Newman, is an avid scuba diver, loves deep-sea fishing, and snowboarding. His duties at Newman Properties entail coordinating the events calendar and attending events that include open houses, Real Estate Investment Club meetings, fundraisers, and seminars. He has attended open houses throughout the area, fundraisers for the Mayor as well as City Councilors of Boston, fundraisers for State Senators and Representatives, and seminars including Ins and Outs of Wholesaling, Networking, and State of the Market. In addition to marketing, Zach has gotten into commercial investing and has assisted on deals as well as investing in them.
