In the decades since, we've expanded our operations to focus on the acquisition and management of our own collection of beautifully renovated properties in Boston and its vibrant vicinity.

Matt Newman, Principal, is originally from Trumbull, Connecticut and attended Boston University. As a senior in college, he began a publishing company that put out real estate, apartment rental, and roommate magazines. These opportunities introduced him to hundreds of contacts in the real estate community as well as ancillary fields such as banking, inspections, and real estate law. In the mid 1990s, Matthew started a real estate company that today has three Unlimited Sotheby's International Realty offices in Brookline, Jamaica Plain, and Newton Center. He is a non-active partner but participates in corporate development and consultation.
Matthew began buying, managing, and developing real estate in the early to mid 1990s. At first he bought condominiums, three family houses, and small projects. Now over 25 years later, he owns over 400 residential units, has completed dozens of condominium conversions, acquisition-conversion-management situations, and renovated and sold numerous assets, and properties, has developed dozens of projects and has brought and sold over 150 million dollars worth of property in the area. Currently, he oversees the management of the Newman Properties portfolio, is overseeing 3 development ground-up construction projects, and is seeking new acquisitions.
Sara Wolanski, Business Manager & Operations Officer. Sara's interest in real estate began several years ago, when she moved to Boston and became an office assistant at Newman Properties in 2008. She then spent 4 years in the healthcare field, but eventually returned to Newman Properties and the real estate world in 2014. Sara helped to integrate the use of AppFolio property management software at Newman Properties. She is in charge of all operations both in management and development. In her spare time, she enjoys trying new recipes and volunteering at a local dog rescue.
Andy Heley, Property Manager & Director of Acquisitions, has been working in the Boston area real estate market since 2005 after spending a few years at a big public accounting firm. He started out as a real estate agent focusing primarily on rentals and quickly moved into sales and property management. Andy ran a successful real estate office in Allston for several years before leaving to focus more on the property management and investing side of the business. He joined the team at Newman Properties in 2013 and is the Property Manager for properties in Plymouth, Hyannis, Framingham, Auburn, and Boston's Mission Hill and Allston/Brighton neighborhoods. Andy is a partner in the Cape Cod Canal apartments located in Bourne. He also continues to buy, sell, and invest in real estate individually.
Mariana Salerno, Property Manager, was in retail and financial services for 7 years. She is now exploring the world of real estate and joined Newman Properties is 2011. Mariana manages our properties in East Boston and Chelsea. She evaluates new properties as well as oversees renovations and rehabs. Mariana is a Massachusetts Notary Public. She was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and has been a resident of Boston for over 25 years. She is bilingual in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. She's family oriented and loves taking her Puggles Maya and Nixon for walks. She is outgoing, extremely organized, and motivated.
Alex Ritchie, Development & Project Manager Prior to joining Newman Properties Alex spent eight years gaining broad experience throughout the real estate industry. After graduating from New York University School of Law in 2009, he has worked in the fields of real estate law, development, policy, management, and sales. Outside of work Alex enjoys the outdoors, loves to fish and has just taken up windsurfing. Alex joined Newman Properties in 2017 and uses his real estate expertise and legal background to play a crucial role in all major development projects.
Amy Rivard, Rental and Leasing Manager, is a lifelong resident of MA and currently resides in Wellesley. After owning and operating her own business for over 10 years, she started in the Real Estate business in Boston to fulfill her passion for delivering quality housing while serving clients with superior customer service. Being able to multi-task, Amy can handle just about every aspect of the Real Estate industry. She joined Newman Properties in 2016 and quickly became an important part of the team.
Benjamin Ward, Administrative Assistant, is a lifelong resident of metro Boston currently living in Brighton. Ben joined the Newman Properties team in May of 2017. He is new to real estate and brings 6 years of higher education administrative experience to our office. He assists the business manager with financial and administrative projects, office operations, and tenant relations. In his spare time, Ben enjoys adventures with his puppy Walter, traveling, cooking, tropical plants, and Scandinavian design.
Heidi Freimanis-Cordts, Business Consultant, joined the Newman Properties team in March 2014. Her duties at Newman Properties include advertising, public relations, and marketing. Mrs. Freimanis graduated from the Boston University School of Music, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance and her Master of Music degree in Historical Performance-Voice. As a member of the Copley Singers, Mrs. Freimanis had the great honor of singing for the President of the United States at the Interfaith Service for Victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings.
Tanner Payne, Partner** of P & N Investments, a division of Newman Properties. Tanner is a lifelong resident of MA where he grew up on the south shore. Entering the real estate industry after graduating from Providence College in 2006, Tanner founded his own brokerage in 2009 which he still operates. In 2014 Tanner and Matt Newman decided to partner up on a multi-family deal in Fort Hill Roxbury and P & N Investments was founded. To date Tanner has been responsible for sourcing deals and leading P & N Investments to over $15,000,000 in real estate transactions.
Zachary Newman, Public Relations & Marketing Intern. Oldest son of Principal of the company, Zachary is an avid scuba diver, loves deep sea fishing, plays lacrosse and snow boards. His duties at Newman Properties include coordinating the events calendar and attending events that include Open Houses, Real Estate Investment Club Meetings, Fundraisers, and Seminars. He has attended open houses throughout the area, fundraisers for the Mayor as well as City Councilors of Boston, fundraisers for State Senators and Representatives, and seminars including Ins and Outs of Wholesaling, Networking, and State of the Market. He will attend the University of Miami in fall 2017.
Caitlin Smith, Marketing Consultant, relocated from New Jersey 10 years ago. Caitlin has enjoyed working in many aspects of the Boston real estate market. Most recently she was a commercial property manager but also has almost three years of experience as a residential sales agent focused in Brookline, Brighton, and Back Bay. Caitlin joined the Newman Properties team in 2015. With a background in construction management and a passion for historical architecture she particularly enjoys renovating and restoring the abundant unique buildings in the city.
Amanda Visvis, Marketing Assistant, grew up in Wellesley and currently resides in Allston. Amanda joined the Newman Properties team in October of 2017. She graduated in 2016 with a degree in Communications from Endicott College in Beverly, MA. Amanda has worked previously as a tennis instructor and childcare teacher. With this new role, she hopes to develop a broadening of Newman Properties' presence online as well as creating a fun and interactive social media presence. In her spare time, Amanda loves to go to concerts, hit the beach, and try out local cafes.
Dave Brose, Investment Consultant, has been both a trusted adviser to area developers, investors, and banks and an expert in residential sales in the Boston area for many years. He has been a full-time real estate professional since 2001 and handled REO work for over 3 years for Bank of America, where he gained accolades from top industry leaders. He also has been awarded the prestigious Gold Medal award for sales volume from a national franchise.
From a family of New England real estate professionals, Dave's affiliation with Newman Properties is, he quotes: "no accident. Phyllis Holcomb, Bookkeeper and Accountant, has been working at Newman Properties for over 20 years. She holds her Masters of Science in Accounting from Bentley University. She was born and raised in the Boston area.
Kevin De Jesus, Cleaning Services Plus, is our on-site management and provides cleaning and maintenance services for our commercial office building in Auburn, MA. Kevin joined the Newman Properties team in 2007.
Cesar Salinas is our on-site manager and provides cleaning and maintenance services for our buildings in East Boston, MA. Cesar joined Newman Properties in 2015 and has been an outstanding addition to the team.
Katie Day, Administrative Assistant, joined Newman Properties in December. With a background in higher education and business management, Katie has worked in a variety of areas including radio, higher education, and healthcare. Katie is new to real estate but looks forward to the opportunity to expand her colorful career portfolio. Katie is also a certified yoga instructor and runs her own yoga business, Katie Day Yoga, through which she teaches yoga to children in studios, schools and private homes.
Connor Scott, Acquisition and Development Associate Prior to joining Newman Properties in 2017, Connor worked in asset management at Eaton Vance. A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Connor studied finance and economics. The associate role includes deal generation and completion for acquisitions in the greater Boston area. Additionally, assisting both the head of acquisitions and development with any sort of analysis, property management, or operational task. Connor lives in South Boston and in his spare time enjoys sports, travel and the outdoors.
